The Head, Sales and Marketing provides leadership and overall direction for the Sales and Marketing department and is responsible for planning and implementing market penetration and market development strategies and programs. Also responsible for generating sales from existing and new markets and coordinating the activities of the customer service unit for the business.

Reports To: Head of Comapny
Supervises: Sales Managers


KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES 
1. Business Development
  • Develop and implement strategic marketing/sales plans and forecasts to achieve business objectives for products and services.
  • Develop and manage sales/marketing operating budgets with the approval of Head of Comapany.
  • Plan and develop strategies for meeting business goals; drive the sales process from inquiry/RFP coordination through “Closing the Deal”.
  • Develop and recommend product positioning, packaging, and pricing strategy to produce the highest possible long-term market share.
  • Identify, qualify and prospect target clients within the firm’s value chain opportunities; this includes the development of business plans, pitching and negotiation of contracts
  • Develop and maintain broad industry network of high level contacts in industrial market place. Establish and maintain relationships with industry influencers and key strategic partners.
  • Drive the sales process in collaboration with the Sales team.
    Track and report current status of potential projects, markets, customer news, and developments.
  • Negotiate and communicate complex concepts/business issues to a variety of audiences.
  • Oversee and evaluate market research and adjust marketing strategy to meet changing market and competitive conditions.
  • Monitors competitor products, sales and marketing activities.
  • Guide preparation of marketing activity reports and presentation to executive management.
  • Analyse and control expenditures of department to conform to budgetary requirements.
  • Establish and maintain a consistent corporate image throughout all product lines, promotional materials, and events.
  • Prepare periodic sales report showing sales volume, potential sales, and areas of proposed client base.

2. Customer Service/Client Management

  • Assist in the development and implementation of customer service policies.
  • Oversee the customer service unit and ensure effective and long-term problem resolution.
  • Develop and implement procedures pertinent to the effective and efficient operation of the Customer Service unit.
  • Monitor customer service programs and procedures to ensure on-time delivery and customer satisfaction.
  • Set performance standards to meet service goals of the firm.
  • Develop and structure the training agenda for the customer service unit.
  • Provide feedback to the Head of Comapny regarding service failures or customer concern

3. Stakeholder Management

  • Refer to the Head of Company on all matters of major importance to the company’s progress and report organisational plans and performance.
  • Build and manage relationships with all relevant stakeholders including government officials, community leaders, agencies etc, to ensure best outcomes for the business.
  • Manage relationships with related staff to ensure output is in line with requirements and agreements. Promote harmonious relations between SBU and Unit Heads.
  • Collaborate with key internal customers to ensure strategic alignment and optimal process interaction.

EDUCATIONAL/PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATION
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Marketing or related field.
  • MBA, Master’s degree or professional qualification in a relevant field would be an added advantage.
EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum of 10 years relevant work experience with 2 years in a management position.
  • Proven sales track record with experience in successfully expanding new business and growing existing business within a vertical market.
  • Intimate knowledge of the Nigerian business terrain with management experience in both the regulated and deregulated sectors of the economy.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and effective communication both verbal and written.
  • Experience in the Real Estate Development and Construction sector is an added advantage.
