Our client, an Integrated Steel Manufacturing company, with stated objectives of becoming a market leader in the sub Saharan African steel industry, is seeking to engage the services of a competent Procurement Director for its operations in Nigeria

Educational Qualification & Experience
  • At least a Bachelor's/Master degree in supply chain management, economics, finance, operations, engineering or a related area with 20 years' experience in overseas procurement.
  • Preferred: Advance degree with experience in Steel plant preferably in African countries

  • Overall management of all procurement function and in-bound logistics.
  • Contract management, negotiation including tender invitation and allottment
  • Material planning, Vendor development and management
  • New Product Development
  • Service and labor contracts
  • Capex/Opex and Procurement of MRO items

Key Accountabilities
  • Timely procument &an effective procurement plan.
  • Budget,vendor development and vendor management plan.
  • Quality and transparency in allotment of contracts.
  • Cost control
  • Setting of short, medium & long term goals for the whole procurement team
  • Apraisal & team building
  • Achieving ZERO HOUR LOSS OF PRODUCTION on account of materials, through effective planning, scheduling and coordinating entire supply chain gamut
  • Effective management of in-bound logistics
Required Skills
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Team player at executive levels to collaborate with business units and functional partners like IT, finance, HR, legal, etc.
  • Solid operational management and general business skills.
  • Industry knowledge in terms of broad industry dynamics on the buy-side (and the sell-side), but also the internal knowledge and “language of the business”
  • Excellent communication skills and even better listening skills that him to get the “voice of the internal customer”
  • Strong negotiation skills to use for large commercial deals
  • Experience with modern sourcing and procurement system with complete ERP knowledge.
  • Familiarity with relevant legislative and regulatory requirements, as well as understanding of standard contractual terms and conditions to mitigate legal risk.
